"Garden Afternoon"

Inspired by the colors of a garden during an afternoon stroll.

I hand painted dye onto this thread differently than I normally do - the dye was applied around in a circle instead of from end to end. The result is that the colors change in continuous succession, for example - ABCDABCD - whereas my usual skeins have the colors do something like - ABCDCBA - if that makes any sense.

It was a lot of extra work to do this circular method! So, this may be a one-time treat...or one-time disaster, depending on your opinion of the result, LOL.

Yes, that ABDCABCD/ABCDCBA thing made perfect sense and that's a great way to explain it...at least to me it is, LOL! I look forward to seeing more of your fabulous creations! :)

It's really lovely. Can't wait to see what it looks like tatted up.
I dye many colorways in the same manner, it does take extra time but the effect is very nice.

Gorgeous color thread.

Thank you very much, all!
It's already obvious that there is no way to keep up with the demand for "Garden Afternoon" unless I find an easier way to do it. I may go to longer skeins and paint them end to end, using these same colors.

I like your new color. It reminds me of the colors found in parrots. I would like to see it tatted in a doily that would best bring out the color pattern. It is worth the extra work.

Beautiful colors you can paint. I've never seen such beautiful yarns. I read somewhere is a microwave oven heats the yarn is dyed. I would like to ask how they are produced?

Hi andrea j,
there is more information available on how I dye my colors at my blog post here:
http://yarnplayertats.blogspot.com/2008/03/dyeing-art.html

I do not use a microwave oven for the kind of dyeing that I do.
