"Oxidation" necklace

OK, it is done. Next time I will make the holes in the polymer clay a bit bigger! Then it would be easier to join into. I might try for more of a heart shape for the central bead. The "Flora" brand thread, size 10, that I used for this piece is sturdy, but is slightly duller and fuzzier than the DMC Cordonnet Special, in my opinion. Well, I am picky!

Anyway, I saved a scan of the necklace at actual size, to use as a reference for future designing. I think the next one will go a lot faster, now that I've got something to follow.

  2. The necklace is wonderful and although the holes may have been difficult to join into, the final result is terrific. I agree with the comment about Flora the thread is dull, flat and lifeless compared to DMC and the fibres seem fuzzier. It's appropriate on a design called "Oxidation" though, isn't it? As if the thread were a little bit rusted?

  3. This really is a beautiful piece. Your work just keeps on surprising me. I am so pleased with the pendant I purchased from your Etsy shop for my mother-in-law. However, I'm not sure I can part with it!

  4. Thank you, all.

It's really an inspiration, and a true motivator to get such nice comments.

All this while I've been calling the color "rust" and I ran across a ball of really rusty looking thread today, that makes the necklace look more like dark red. I guess it all depends on what color is next to it.
