I've been wanting to do purples for ages, but there was always another color that seemed more "urgent". So finally I have some purple in this colorway, which I have entitled "Lola".
The butterfly was just something made up while playing with the new thread.
This is really pretty Marilee!
ReplyDeletealmost reminds me of the discontinued Manuela #203 that I so dearly love. And I am sure that your thread handles just as well if not better :) PRETTY PRETTY!
ReplyDeleteIs it true that whatever Lola wants, Lola gets? Oh, wait! I want Lola! Lola does not necessarily want me! She's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI want Lola too! Purple is my absolute favorite. Here's another I'll have to fight for. DH just doesn't understand why I NEED and HAVE TO HAVE DHT!!! The butterfly is so pretty. I would love for you to write it out for us!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I want to "tweak" the butterfly a bit yet.
ReplyDeleteCheck the next post for some really exciting news!
Once again Marilee you have come up with a colourway that is so pleasing to the eye. I just love the way the colours flow on the thread you dye. Of course you realize that we HDTA are helpless and just have to have some.
ReplyDeleteMarilee I am so intrigued by the stem on the butterfly. It would make a lovely neckchain or bracelet. Is it pearl tatted and is the stem tatted over a wire or just stiffed? congratulations on being puslished
ReplyDeleteThank you.
ReplyDeleteYes, the stem on the butterfly is pearl tatted. There were 4 threads sticking out, so I used 2 of them as the core, and tatted 3 unflipped ds on one side, then 3 unflipped ds on the other, using the 2 outside threads alternately. I think the ds on the opposite side were done in reverse order, to keep both sides consistent.
I didn't use any stiffening or wire, but those are good ideas that could open up a lot of possibilities!
