While visiting the zoo a few weeks ago, I spotted this beautiful bird with brightly colored, iridescent feathers. I immediately thought, "What great colors for a dye batch!" The photo above is the best picture I was able to take of it, which doesn't show that there is a little red on the bird as well.
Here is my attempt to capture the colors of the Nicobar Pigeon in thread.

In other news, I found out this morning that my red tatted necklace "Ruffled Orbit" was included in
"Treasury West" on Etsy -
(a tempory honor, so the link will only work for a while). Anyway, it's so nice to get recognition for one's work!
Congratulations! I do love that necklace. It's color and uniqueness makes it quite a head turner. And that thread! Of course, I had to pop over to Etsy and buy some. Happy Halloween!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Steph. I was surprised and happy to be picked for a treasury, and it gets my shop a little more exposure, too. I'm glad you liked the thread so much!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your necklace being chosen for the treasury! I'm not at all surprised. Your pieces are such beautiful and unique works of art, each one of them!
ReplyDeleteYour new colorway is beautiful.

ReplyDeleteThis thread is great!
Congrats on your Etsy honor!
The new colourway is gorgeous and it is neat that it was inspired by nature. It is nice to see your tatting get the recognition it deserves and the award is permanent it is the posting that is temporary.

Thank you for the compliments, TattingChic! I'm glad you think my things are "art".
ReplyDeleteLadyShuttleMaker, it's nice to know that you are a bird lover. There must be some interesting varieties in your current location.
Thanks, Clyde. I don't quite understand how this "treasury" stuff works, but it means that somebody liked my necklace, anyway.
Thank you very much, Tattrldy (I hope I got your I.D. name spelled right this time!)
Thanks Heather. I'm looking forward to getting your book, and when it arrives I'll give it a promo on my blog :-)
wow what a match! It does make a great colour scheme. Nothing better than nature herself for inspiration is there :D
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! You're an award winner every day in my eyes! I love the Nicobar Pigeon colorway!
ReplyDeleteThank you Helen Suzanne, I agree that nature is an endless source of inspiration.
ReplyDeleteDiane, you are too kind!
