Artisans and Entrepreneurs Holiday Market at Discovery World 2008

Here's my booth, and me wearing my butterfly necklace - do I look like I'm having fun?

My tatted jewelry display - my work received many compliments, and several sales! Also seen here is my book, and the sign-up sheet for tatting classes - I did get two very eager people to sign up!

My HDT looked lovely in the bins, but, surprisingly, did not sell at this general market. So now I know, I don't have to take my whole store next time.

Some shoppers browsing the various displays. There was a wide variety of handcrafted items to choose from!

  2. It would have been great to see you there, Diane! Maybe another time in better weather - we had a snow that morning, I think that cut down on the attendance some.

  5. Thank you, LadyShuttleMaker. Maybe someday we'll have booths next to each other - you never know!

Thank you, Jon - I think your tatted beauties are works of art, too!

  6. You did look like you were having fun!!! Your jewelry was displayed so nicely! How exciting that you will be teaching two people to tat. Who knows how far their tatting talents will reach in the distant future. You could be affecting generations of tatters with those 2 peeps! :)

Okay...I must confess...secretly I am GLAD your HDT didn't sell, hee hee hee! Because it's MORE FOR MEEEEEEEEE! ;)

  8. TattingChic, that is such a lovely thought about teaching people to tat. So now I won't feel so bad about these 2 people that actually didn't work out - one left me an incorrect email address, so I can't contact her, and although the other had the right phone #, when I called, her response was, "Don't call me, I'll call you" - so go figure. They both seemed so thrilled at the time of the show. Anyhoo, there will be others.

Thank you, Clyde. Yes, there were many folks who did seem impressed. It was worth packing things up and going.

  11. Well, Tattycat, I haven't actually been to the bookstore yet to see if the Winter issue of "Belle Armoire Jewelry" is there, but from what I understood, it came out in December. Perhaps they thought you meant the other magazine, which is just "Belle Armoire"? (There are two!)

Barb, thanks for visiting my blog! - And thanks for your help in trying to bring Clover tatting shuttles back to the shelves at Michael's Arts and Crafts.

  12. Hi Marylee, thank you for showing pictures of your booth! Looks great! And its always fun und worth it! Don't care about those silly women, may be it was just the wrong moment to call her! -You mentioned once people asked you for needle tatted pattern for jewelry, I posted a picture of the necklaces of my book on my blog, may be they find it through this.
My book is written in german, but full of photos explaining the basics of needle tatting and perlnaofe-technique!
    Have a sunny day!

  13. You look as fabulous and happy as your stall does.

All those people who didn't buy your thread just don't know what they have missed out on.

  14. Perlen-guni, your book looks beautiful! Gorgeous necklaces, and it sounds like a must-have resource for needle tatters. I hope you get a lot of sales!

Tatskool, the show was a very good learning experience for me - and the folks who stopped by for a closer look. HDT is definitely a "niche market" item, but the tatted jewelry has a wide appeal. People were amazed to see the process by which it was made.

  15. Thanks for posting all these pictures. Wish I could have been there to, but you know I had to demo for a good cause. You had so much thread there! Hope to see you for the Christmas luncheon.

  17. Yes, you do look happy and with a good reason because you had a nice little shop there. I am glad you were able to sell some of your tatting and I am sure there are tatters online that are happy because there will be more HDT left for them to buy, lol.
