This 4 minute video shows tatting a ring, picots, reverse work, tatting a chain, and joining 2 rings. The way I hold my shuttle is comfortable for me - each individual will tat in a slightly different way.
(This video was made using an old camera, so the picture quality is poor, but might still be helpful for someone learning to tat.)
Bravo! Bravo!
ReplyDeleteWhere were you when I needed this video so badly 2 yeas ago, huh?
Excellent quality teaching device. And the music is so appropriate!
I doff my hat!

The music and your hand movements show that tatting can be relaxing and enjoyable. Your way of holding the shuttle is just like some tatters I met at Shuttlebirds. Two people I taught to tat do it very similar to your video and I taught them using the way you did in your previous post with pictures. Go figure. Results are what matters and I'd think anyone could learn with your video. Karen in OR
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! Both the video, instructions and music are great!
ReplyDeleteThank you all for the nice comments. I wish I had been able to get the images into sharper focus, but hopefully the video will help someone who is trying to learn how to tat.
ReplyDeleteHAPPY NEW YEAR !
ReplyDeletethank for video

ReplyDeleteLove this instructional video. Keep it coming. I want to also see how you add beads into tatting and all the other techniques.
Fantastic video! I have always wanted to learn to tat and I received a book on it for Christmas this year. Between the book and your wonderful tutorials, hopefully I can be sucessful! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSuper lesson! Could I ask for a video with instructions on how to make a chains? Thank you and best regards
ReplyDeleteI forgot to label as "chain", the part of the video that shows the chain being tatted. It's the part shown after the 1st ring and reverse work.
ReplyDeleteThe auxiliary thread (the 2nd thread, that is coming from the ball) is wrapped across the left hand and around the little finger for tension (instead of all the way around the hand). The double stitches are formed just the same as when tatting a ring.
You did a marvelous job on the video, Marliee! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteYou make it look as if anyone could tat. :)
I think Ladyshuttlemaker tats like you do!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your video. I have asked several people about making a picot and closing it with second half of stitch and I saw you do it. I have been told that a picot is just a space but it does make a difference in how you work looks. Thanks for letting me see that someone else does that.
ReplyDeleteare you using two shuttles?
ReplyDeleteIn this video I'm using only one shuttle and a ball of thread.
