Rose Within
Here's an experiment with a filigree finding. I guess I really should have joined Diane's Doodad Double Dare! But, I never can plan ahead, my designs just sort of "happen" and I'm as surprised as anyone if something actually turns out.
Because the lace "frame" surrounding the suspended filigree is so open, it needed stiffening to stay in shape. I painted "Fa-brick" stiffener on the back only. I like to keep the natural sheen of the cotton thread untouched on the front.
Oh, and while other people are getting excited about going to "Tat Days" I haven't done any preparation at all, other than get my travel arrangements in order. I sort of have a sense of foreboding about the whole event. Silly, I know. Probably it'll be loads of fun once I'm there, but it's the whole "journey into the unknown" that scares me.
You're not the first to admit to feelings of foreboding about coming to the convention. Fear of the unknown, overwhelmed with the idea of so many people, etc. This wears off about 5 minutes after you get there. It will be great
ReplyDeleteAlthough Jane tries and reasures me that all will be fine I recognise what you are saying about Tat Days Marilee, so many people and for me a strange country!
ReplyDeleteThank you Martha.
Hi, Marilee. We're real scary. Not.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing you there! Oh, and what Martha said.
:-)
Its going to be wonderful! You'll have such a great time you won't want to leave. I'm so sad to miss it.
ReplyDeleteThanks much for the reassuring words!
ReplyDeleteTo me, the state of Georgia seems like a "strange country" since I've never been that far south before, LOL. I hope there's peaches :)
We Georgia & SC folks will make you feel right at home, never fear! Also, the airport folks are also very nice.
ReplyDeleteUm, peaches. Any of the SC group got any? It's past peach season in GA.
Very unique and beautiful!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you, Marilee! I wish you could bottle and sell nervous energy.... I'd be rich. :o)
ReplyDeleteI love the necklace, and I know you will have a wonderful time at Tat Days! Say hi to everyone for me, and enjoy all that southern hospitality.
ReplyDeleteI'll bring you some doodads at our next Tollway Tatters. If you can't make it, I'll mail you some... just say the word!
Hi Marilee! Lovely tatting! You always create stunning pieces.
ReplyDeleteWe all get excited (nervous?) about certain things -- for me it is public speaking or teaching. Travel is not one of the anxiety producing things for me. I get on line and look up all the local 'stuff' to do + line up my whole trip. There usually isn't a spare hour where I have not planned something.
It makes us individuals.
We all like to celebrate our creativity. And, those tatters are in for a real treat to see your creations and get the chance to meet you.
Enjoy your celebrity! And hope to see you at next Tollway Tatters gathering.
Take heart, my first time I was all alone no one knew me and I had a funny accent(I'm from new jersey).
ReplyDeleteI came the night before and sat down by myself to dine. That lasted 30 seconds, I was urged to join a group and the ladies took me under there wing. I've made lasting friends and have attended ever since!
You have many fans in the tatting community, you will be warmly welcomed. If the peaches aren't in season, enjoy the sweet tea!
Oops meant THEIR, not there!
ReplyDeleteI love your new pattern, and the rose in the middle great idea.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy tat days, and come back with even more inspiration.
Margaret
Last year was my first time at Tat Days, and it was more last old home week because I saw so many people that I had "met" on-line....look forward to seeing you there.
