This batch has the "bluest" blues that I've dyed so far. The actual blue shades are difficult to capture in a photo. It varies from light to medium dark, cool to warm blue.
Something else that I've been working on these last few days, is learning to tat clunies, aka tallies. I've known OF cluny tatting for many years, but never got around to learning how to do it. I just figured I didn't need cluny leaves. But, in case somebody asks me to teach them, I guess I'd better learn. To me, learning to tat a cluny feels like battling the final "boss" in a video game. If I get through this, I win! LOL ;-)
Not that it's the last technique I need to learn, heavens, no. There are a lot of tatting things I've never done yet. But, nothing seemed as intimidating to me as a cluny, therefore, with joy I'm showing off my very first cluny project. It's from a pattern by Stephanie Peters. So, off to practice some more, and maybe come up with a cluny design of my own in the new year.
For your first try, the motif turned out lovely. I know you will come up with a beautiful design.
ReplyDeletecongrats! the cluny tatting is awesome
ReplyDeletebtw, I did get the 'project' up on the craftsy page. took me a bit to figure it out
I love your cluny motif! I've tried making clunies before, but I never seem to get two in a row to come out nicely - one is always 'wonky'! I guess you're right - practice :)
ReplyDeleteYour blue thread is beautiful!
WOW! First try is amazingly good... you are a natural!
ReplyDeleteFox : ))
WOW! First and looking good. It's been a couple years since I've made them & mine never were totaly even. I have no doubt you'll create a wonderful pattern and so I'd better get practicing clunies again.
ReplyDeleteLovely cluny project!
ReplyDeleteLooks as though you've beaten the boss alright! It does feel like a battle to begin with.
ReplyDeleteI thought I was the only one who had never done a cluny, I try to avoid them where possible, your first try is lovely and you have done them so well, perhaps I better learn them before grand daughter decides she wants to learn them.
ReplyDeleteLovely thread
Margaret
I still haven't tried cluny leaves either and it sounds like for the exact same reasons, but I'm still stalling because I just don't like the look enough to think I'll ever use them in a design. Though I really at least ought to know how. You did a fine job!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the Blue Streak! ...but you knew I would, didn't you?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your beautiful Cluny work! They don't really interest me as far as being a technique I would like to learn, but I am fascinated by the way others work them into their tatting. Your perfectionism in tatting has sure paid off!
These look perfect to me! I'm sure we'll be seeing your own designs soon! Clunies are still 'scary' to me!
ReplyDeleteNo puedo creer que este sea el primer intento, lo encuentro perfecto. Me imagino las maravillas que harás después que domines la técnica. Siempre he admirado tus trabajos en frivolité (Tatting) y tu publicación me anima a seguir aprendiendo ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the encouragement. Actually, this is my first "successful" cluny project; before I got that far, I had a whole bunch of attempted clunies that wouldn't close before I finally figured out which thread to pull first!
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing and looks so nice in this piece. Kinda reminds me of learning Irish Crochet!
ReplyDeleteYour threads are so beautiful period!
This is so lovely , I can't say anything more as let me speechless
