New original bracelet pattern with pearl tatting center: "Linnea"


It's done! Available in my Etsy shop and will be in my Craftsy pattern store as well. This is the pattern for the bracelet that caused such a stir on Facebook, and was the motivation to make my YouTube video about pearl tatting.

 A challenging pattern to tat, because of the combination of unflipped stitches in the pearl tatting part, along with normal double stitches and reverse order double stitches (2nd half first, 1st half second) in the rings. It's all explained in the pattern, and diagrams with stitch counts are there, too.

 Surprisingly, this design also demonstrates Newton's 3rd law of  motion by curving when only one side is done. It lies straight when the other side is finished, because at completion each side exerts equal and opposite forces. Sounds like rocket science? Yes, it is in a way, because a rocket flies by producing a bigger force than the drag against it :)

    I really like this pattern and will be buying the pattern, I have a question, I looked at the pattern on Esty and see its tatted with no 10. Can it be tatted with no 20 i realise it means another circle to the length of the bracelet. Only at present I don't have any no 10 but plenty of no 20.

    I love that! Not sure if I could do it, as I only needle tat. Can it be done with a needle or does it require the shuttle? Beautiful colors!

    Margaret, I haven't tried it in size 20 but I'm pretty sure it would work, with the same beads or maybe instead of the size 8/0 beads, use the Toho large hole size 11/0 over the picots. Any seed beads size 11/0 should work for the stringing, size 20 thread usually holds seed beads easily. As you said, add repeats of the pattern as needed to get enough length.

    Kristina, yes, I think this pattern can be needle tatted, even though the in-process photos only show it being made with the shuttle. The diagrams and stitch counts should be easy enough to follow, but you'll have to search online for instructions on how to do pearl tatting with the needle.
