In response to popular demand, I've made a video of tatting the "Remembrance" ring. Hope this helps to clarify how it goes together. I used size 20 thread, which is a little difficult to see well on camera, but that's the thread size I use for these rings. Oh, and you can download the free PDF pattern HERE.
Wow! It looks like magic. I'm interested in your Craftsy class. Can you recommend a shuttle or shuttle set to get me starter=d? Amazon.com has an overwhelming abundance of sizes and shapes. TIA!
Glad to hear that you like the video! Yosefa, I like to start beginners with the Clover shuttles. They're a good size, low cost, and the point is really useful for joins (and picking out mistakes).
Thanks. The pattern may look very simple, but actually this ring isn't meant as a project for a brand new beginner at tatting. It's a wee bit too fussy for that. Good for intermediate, though.
Wow! Your art is amazing! Just started tatting with your first Craftsy class and looking forward to taking the second class!! I look forward to being able to make this...someday!
Hi Naomi, good to see you here :) Tatting has only the double stitch, and although that one stitch is tricky to learn at first, once you've "got it" there are loads of patterns that you'll be able to make!
Thank you for the pattern, It looks as easy, and doing the video
ReplyDeleteBeautiful idea and nice way to use a piece of thread to remember.
Margaret

Thank you so much for the video. I've had the pattern, but I was hesitant to try it, but now I'm rather psyched to give it a go.
ReplyDeleteI've tried to follow the video a couple of times but a little too fast for me, I get lost.. Lol never mind perseverance!
