After several months of thinking, experimenting, searching for threads and beads, it's done! I'm actually quite pleased with the result. Just so you know, this art piece necklace is NOT for sale, but I do intend to enter it in exhibitions for display.
The necklace was made using several tatting techniques, including Celtic tatting, bead picots, beads on the core thread, curled rings, bead inside a ring, bead inside self-closing mock ring, floating rings, and pearl tatting (double sided chain). I tatted with shuttles throughout, using Celtic shuttles for the overlapping chains around the stone near the neckline.
Besides tatting, I used the beading technique of peyote stitch to make the beaded bezels around the 3 stones in the piece. Two of the stones are amethyst, and the small one in the center is a druzy. The pointy dangle at the bottom is wire wrapped, strung with drilled amethyst chips and glass beads.
So now that this is accomplished, my next goal is to organize my crafting studio. It's quite a mess at the moment!
Wow!!!
ReplyDeleteFabulous!!! I'm sure it will turn heads in the competition. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful and flows nicely.
ReplyDeleteWow!!!!!! This is a breathtaking piece.
ReplyDeleteWow. That turned out beautiful. It's great to see the final piece after the past few weeks of sneak peeks. You should do great in the competition.
ReplyDeleteI watched Marie Kondo's show on Netflix a few weeks ago and it has inspired me to do some major cleaning and reorganizing in my craft room (as well as other parts of the house). I think it will make me more creative in the long run because now I can actually see what materials I have to work with. It's already sparking some ideas for sewing projects. Now to find the time to get them done....
Wow, a spectacular showcase for tatting, congratulations!
ReplyDeleteWow! So intricate and elaborate, so many techniques!
ReplyDeleteYour necklace is truly a work of art!
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone!
ReplyDeleteThe threads I used were my own hand dyed for the dark purple and the aqua. The multicolored is Karey Solomon's hand dyed. The others are Lizbeth threads, including one metallic "Sand Dollar".
When I saw this on Facebook, I thought it looked stunning, now I have had an even closer look it’s more than stunning it’s a master piece
