Experimenting in the "Twilight Zone"

While I was painting this batch the colors looked so dark, that I was afraid that the whole thing would just turn out black. Instead, the purple and blue areas are bright! Whatever - you just can't predict what will happen in the "Twilight Zone".

I tatted a rough idea for a butterfly viewed from the side, attempting to continue my current fascination with streamlining shapes. It needs work, but at least I did manage to tat it all in one pass with no ends to hide, and it shows how the new dye batch looks worked up.

I also tatted the center from my "Amoeba Triangle" design into earrings. For these I used Lizbeth bright aqua. The color is so bright my camera just couldn't capture the exact shade.

In June I will be teaching a tatting class, and it is already full to my maximum of 6 beginners. So, I don't know why I'm posting about it - except to let it be known that interest in tatting is alive and well!

    I just ordered 3 skeins, even though I really shouldn't have. :-X But this is my favorite color combination, so I just couldn't resist! I'll have to come up with a set of very special patterns to make from this thread when I get it. :-)

    Marilee, the butterfly design is beautiful! I'm intrigued by the design--look at that split ring and the chain from it. Interesting. Sure looking forward to seeing development of this design.

    Beautiful colours love the earrings, really gorgeous.
    Nice to know tatting is still alive and new tatters are in the making. My grand daughter wants to learn and when I am better than I will start to teach her.

    I hate the color purple... absolutely find it just ugly... And yet, I am in LOVE with this thread! LOL. I think it's the first time I've really liked a thread with purple in it... the blue comes through so gloriously! LOVE it!!!

    Wow! I love your work! I found you through an Etsy hand made jewelry team; and I'm glad I did. The colors you use are gorgeous! And I had no idea that tatting could be used to make jewelry. I'm a new follower!
