So many thanks

Thank you to all who support creative arts. I have had a strange week, starting with the "Monday from the twilight zone...."

Seriously??? 4 patterns from the same designer on a magazine cover without asking permission??? I still don't know what I should say, but Corina Meyfeldt has written a very good post on her blog, explaining how copyright violation hurts the artist and ultimately hurts everyone.

Well, it snowed here and Easter is this coming Sunday. I don't have any pretty Easter egg tatting to show you - since I volunteer for church music, holy week is the busiest week of the year. Actually, I "volunteered" to play cello to accompany the choir - I got "drafted" to sing in the choir. No, not both at the same time :)

The enigmatic photo at left is just a peek at my current tatting for a "secret project". Not saying more just now, except that the issues with design theft have made me realize that sometimes it's good to have friends in high places.

Greater Milwaukee Tatting Guild meeting was this past Monday the 14th, but only one other person showed up (probably due to the snow). The 2 of us had fun together, but didn't bother to take pictures. I had to leave at 5:15 for a music rehearsal.

Happy spring to all who live in the northern hemisphere, and to those "down under", happy fall!

  2. I didn't realise this was still happening - it's not good, is it. Must be utterly devastating to have so many of your own patterns stolen.
I love Easter Music, I am planning to sit and tat this evening while watching the DVD of Bach's St Matthew Passion.

  4. I just read the other post and I wanted to say that it horrible that this has happened to you and so many others. I've had my own issues and I know the frustration. Here's hoping this magazine and it's collaborator gets their comeuppance.

  6. Thank you all so much for your supportive, kind comments, I really appreciate the encouragement more than I know how to say.

Since 2 of the stolen patterns came from the "Tatted Jewelry" book, the DRG Publishing internet copyright infringement department is handling the matter.

  7. I was truly devasted to hear about your patterns being stolen from Jane. Most times when she is working on something she e.mails her progress and more often than not it takes a long time to get her design perfect, as I am sure it is the same for you. Such work and time does not deserve to be used without asking.

  8. When I talked with Denise today, she told me about what had happened to you... how horrible!

We missed you today at Tollway Tatters, but I know you were doing something much more important. Hope to see you soon!

  10. So sorry to hear about the theft. I haven't spent much time on line until this a.m.

Really, sorry. You are so generous and helpful. If not for your tutorials and books, I'd not be able to figure out most of what I want to tat!!!

Sad to have others attempt profit off your creativity. Hang in there GF.
