So September has arrived, and in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin, area it isn't hard to find some leaves that have already changed color. The days are still warm and summery though, and I hope that lasts a while.
A new batch of "Sugar Maple" hand dyed thread has been added to my Etsy shop. That batch always gets "oohs and aahs," but I'm loving how many of the other colorways look good as autumn leaves as well :)
The pattern for the earrings is my own original "Small Maple Leaf."
My dear husband, Jan, has been getting loads of admirers and views for his own Etsy shop, and it's given him something to focus his own creativity on.
The Museum of Wisconsin Art will soon be putting some of my tatted jewelry on display in their gift shop. I'm excited to have my work included there! Also coming up on the calendar is Milwaukee Tatting Guild on Monday, September 9, and Tatting Days in Indiana at the Thread Corner the first weekend in November. Lots to do!
Awesome autumn leaves!!! :) Here in Michigan some leaves started changing at the beginning of August and in all my years here I have never seen it start so early and my mom said the same thing so we are wondering what our winter will be like since I believe they said that last year we had a record snowfall. :)
ReplyDeleteLove your leaves in all those gorgeous colours! And a very pretty shuttle featured in there too.
ReplyDeleteLovely leaves - I like the simplicity of the pattern that brings out the shape ! Lovely colors, too :-)
ReplyDeleteHopped over to your DH, Jan's shop - nice photography. Congratulations & best wishes :-)
I think it's exciting for us all to have your tatting displayed in such a prestigious venue.:-) The leaves show the thread colours off wonderfully.

ReplyDeleteYour maple leaves get more and more beautiful each time you make a new batch of them. But these 2 photographs are also works of art! Is that shuttle made by G Seitz?
I always enjoy looking at your fall colors, as well as your leaves. They help remind me how much I love the crisp air of autumn, especially after a couple of hot, humid weeks!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteThose colours are so vibrant, apart from anything you display your tatting and thread so expertly
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, everyone!
ReplyDeleteI certainly hope we don't have a harsh winter like last year, but time will tell.
The pretty shuttle with the grapevine on it is from Georgia Seitz.
I'm glad to hear people are enjoying the blog photos, and I do try to make them artistic. By the way, I take all of my own photos for this blog and my Etsy shop. Jan takes his own photos for his own Etsy shop, and I'm always surprised by what he comes up with. He's artistic in his own way.
I like hearing the word "prestigious" associated with the art of tatting. Way better than the word "lost", which I hear more often, lol :-)
I totally missed this post, and so love your leaves. I collect them every year and press them in books, trying to save those colors, looks like this way is very fun too!
ReplyDeleteCool! I love Autumn, with the cooler weather and changing leaves - and your tatted leaves certainly do the season justice!
ReplyDeleteI also love the purple and silver colored leaves... totally works!
Wonderful arrangement of maple leaves, love the colours
