A petal shaped, tatted pendant with wire wrapping
Here's another pendant using the techniques shown in my YouTube video. The tatting technique is encapsulation, in which several threads are all used as the core inside unflipped, aka reverse stitches, in the main chain and rings thrown off from either side.
I only used 3 threads, but it looks like more because I used my hand dyed thread which gives a lot of shading. The brightest colors are from my "Brilliant Sunset" batch of hand dyed, listed in my Etsy shop.
Encapsulation technique is taught in my "Next Steps In Shuttle Tatting" course on Craftsy.
By the way, last Saturday I taught a beginning tatting class of 5 students at Midwest Beads! I made it clear to them right at the start that they would not be going home with a lovely finished pair of tatted earrings as shown in the display case, but a messy string of practice knots and knowledge of how tatting works - so that they could continue to practice and learn at home. They were advised to practice at least a few minutes each day so that they wouldn't forget everything that they had learned in class. Several of them expressed interest in the Greater Milwaukee Tatting Guild, so I hope to see them there!
More tatters, yay!
Gorgeous pendant
ReplyDeleteYou said the same words I use over here, I tell them that practicing every day they will learn more easier, and all the crappy bits they can keep them for a future lesson on how to sew in the ends.

It looks so tender. the combination of the colors of threads is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteGreat pendant and information. Last night my sister sent me your pin and asked, "Can you do this?" Yes I can, your courses are helpful, I always learn something new.
ReplyDeleteAnother gorgeous pendant!!! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented!!! :)
I love it! Beautiful! I have both your Craftsy classes, but I haven't done much with them. Seeing your work makes me want to go do all the tatting right now! :)
ReplyDeleteYour tatting and wire pendants are gorgeous! When retirement hits, I know I'll have more time to explore your Craftsy classes. I'm really looking forward to learning some of these techniques!
ReplyDeleteAnother gorgeous pendant! If I only had time to learn how to work with wire but there are only so many hours in the day. I've been kicking around the idea of your Craftsy class - I guess I need to kick myself in gear and sign up :-D
ReplyDeleteThis pendant is very beautiful. I love it.
ReplyDeleteCordially greetings from Poland :-)
