"Tigereye" and student work

Someone - actually several people - had requested "Tigereye" HDT quite some time ago, and I have finally got around to it (a round tuit, LOL!) This batch is a bit more intense than my previous attempts at this colorway.

The tatting in the above photo is the work of my tatting student, done on her own in about 3 weeks time, after only one lesson! This lady is amazing! I've never had anyone pick it up so quickly. Last night she learned about sewing in ends, tatting over ends, and working with 2 shuttles. She will be returning for a lesson in split rings soon. This tatting student found out about me when I had a display at the Bead Needs bead shop, which sadly has gone out of business. So I've been teaching her at home. I'll try to find another shop or other public venue that would be interested in having me teach tatting classes.

The tiger eye looks amazing and intense. Judging by the skill of your student you must be an awesome teacher.

Thank you, Clyde, but it's the student who is awesome. I'm in awe of how fast she caught on, her enthusiasm, her attention to detail, etc. She's already one super tatter!

Thank you, CrazyQuilter. I'm glad you like the colors!

Clyde is right. Tiger eye does look amazing and intense. Your student is doing an amazing job, as you must be in teaching her.

Your tiger eye is one of my very favorite HDT's....actually it may be the straw that spurned me to start dyeing on my own... (:

Your student must be a natural! Congrats...isn't it gratifying to share the gift of tatting?

Thanks, tattycat. I'm just showing her what I do. Pretty soon she will need to move on to a more technically advanced teacher!

Ladyshuttlemaker, I believe you are right, it was around the time of the first "Tigereye" batch that you decided to take the "plunge into the dyepot" LOL.
I agree that this student must be a natural, and it seems that your current students are, too. I think it all depends on how much they enjoy it and push themselves to practice and learn more.

Thank you tattingchic, I'm really not that great a teacher. This is an unusually eager and gifted student.
