While my family and I were visiting the
Olbrich Botanical Gardens, my husband noticed this flower and remarked, "Hey, that looks like that thread you just dyed!" I agreed, until I got home and saw that my
"Midnight Oil" thread is really very
much darker! There are so many unusual colors and designs in plants! Being in a beautiful garden is so calming and peaceful, it seems to me. And, more ideas for HDT :-)

This one is very nice...it is not easy to get such dark concentrated colors...well done.
I think I get about 90% of my color ideas from flowers...there are endless possiblities.
Both are lovely. I love your HDT and that flower is gorgeous. It is amazing how similar they are in coloring.
I love your thread, and it's close enough to the flower that I see the resemblance!
You have come up with another winner. Your colourways are really fantastic.
Mmm I see more browns in that pic on my end. would make a great colorway!
Thank you all for the nice comments about the HDT.
Actually, there isn't any brown in the "Midnight Oil" batch. It's more of a purple where the dark red is shading into the black. Extremely difficult colors to photograph - I did my best %-)
The flower is pretty, but the thread is scrumptious! I'm amazed that any husband would notice flowers or thread!
ROTFL about the husband comment, Tattycat - good one, LOL!
Actually, my DH really is interested in all sorts of nature stuff, including plants and flowers. Although he is clueless about tatting, he does notice the colors of the thread.
Believe it or not, my dh is also very interested in nature. However, tatting and anything associated with said tatting, is of absolutely no interest or value to him. Sad, really!
