Into the dark, mysterious "Forest"

Apparently I haven't made this batch for a very long time, because when I looked it up in my dye "recipe" book, the amounts I had scribbled down for how much dye, water, etc. were very small. That was back in the day (2007) when a batch for me was maybe a dozen skeins total. In this batch I dyed a total of 58 skeins. That's pretty much the maximum amount I can work with at one time.

By the way, there is still some Snowflake left, too. At some point in the future I plan on dyeing a batch of Pizazz, which is sort of a bright red and orange. And, then more Sue's Blues! And, I have an idea for some neutrals, too.

So many colors, so little time!

This is something I can't begin to imagine doing - dyeing thread! (Yes, I saw your post about it. Sorry. Never going to happen!!!) The numbers boggle my mind! 58 skeins??!!
As I recall you have a giant wood wheel where you 'wind' each skein. And each skein has to be somehow equal in color value. Uh huh. Yep. No problem.

I'm getting tired just thinking about it!

To put it mildly, you are amazing!

On another note - did you actually spend four days at your latest art fair? Also amazing! I hope it was near your home!

My next stop is undoubtedly your ETSY shop! I haven't bought any HDT for a bit and I love your colourway. Pizzazz was the thread color that hooked me on HDT!

I don't always leave a comment but I do visit your site often and always enjoy the viewing.

best wishes and a hug, BJ

Thank you all for the nice comments!

Kathy, yes, I wind each skein by hand using a wooden skein winder, and that's the boring part, taking the most time. The dye painting is the fun part!

No, I did NOT have to spend 4 days at the latest art fair. This was a group effort, and we worked in "shifts". I was there only 6 hours.
