Tatting article in Bead&Button Magazine

Pages 24 through 26 of the April 2012 issue has a tatted jewelry article written by me! (Doin' the happy dance!)

There are tatting basics plus instructions there for a pair of simple earrings, and photos of some of my other work. Some people may be curious about the green and black pendant. It's essentially the same pattern as 5 Petal Pendant from the Up and Tat 'Em book, with a change to the outer round. I strung seed beads on the shuttle thread, then tatted Ch 2, slide a bead into place, Ch 2, 4 times for each section.

This is wonderful! I can't wait to see the magazine and YOUR article! I would imagine this will amaze all those beaders who have no idea what tatting is, and will pique their interest! Beading and tatting are perfect together, as shown by the photos and your awesome tatting! Congratulations, again, for blazing new trails and giving tatting a wider audience!

Congratulations!

Also I wanted to tell you how much one of the photos in your post has helped me to understand beaded tatting. I had read many articles which describe stringing beads onto the shuttle thread, but when I did so and tried to tat all of the beads kept getting tangled up in the ball thread. I did not understand that the thread with the beads on it should be wound around the shuttle. Simple when you see it, but it had never even occurred to me!

Thank you and congrats again!

Thanks, and congratulate yourselves too, folks! The magazine editor said she took a look at my blog when I submitted my article, and I'm sure that the amount of followers and interest shown in tatting, had to have been a positive influence on her decision to publish the article.

Just tracked down a copy of the magazine. Wow!!! I'm doing the happy dance with you! I plan to take it with me as I teach classes for the students to browse during the stretch breaks. If nothing else, the materials list will catch their eye! Brava!!!
