This is one unfinished example of what I've been working on this week. I like the "stained glass" effect that comes from combining a bright multicolored thread (my own HDT "Roses" in this case) with black outlines. I'm attempting a series of variations on the same basic pattern, my own original "Wondrous Window", which I plan to submit as a collection to a magazine for consideration. Shown here is the space-filling effect from adding beads over crossed picots - my first time trying this technique. I was inspired to try it from seeing this technique used to perfection in tatted jewelry by Iris.
I have some skeins wound, and will be dyeing a batch of greens shortly.

Beautiful! The beaded crossed-picots really give it the look of fancy wrought iron detail. I love it!
Hi Marilee, I love the stain glass effect too in any kind of work. I knitted a sweater designed by Alice Starmore about 10 years ago. The made body of the sweater had celtic knotwork through out which was created by moving the cable needle according to the charts. There were what I called windows in the pattern that I used a colorful soft yarn with metallic going through it. I can't remember the name of the sweater right now without getting my book out...but I call it my Stain Glass sweater for looking at it makes me think of beautiful Stain Glass. Sometime I will put a picture of that sweater up on my blog.
