Tatting for the Steampunk Maker's Fair

On April 13, which is a Saturday only a few weeks away, I'll be a vendor at the Steampunk Maker's Fair, just one of the events at Concinnity - From Steampunk to Time Lords to Anime' - Science Fiction and Gaming Convention.

With such a wide ranging theme, my styles should fit in somewhere :-) So, I am busy tatting jewelry, plus a few 3D hair clip flowers from a new design that I made up.

I really enjoy tatting around the metal filigrees that I received as a gift awhile back from Lace-lovin' Librarian - Diane. I've ordered more filigrees, as they make for a relatively quick and easy tatting project and look very Victorian. Since the filigrees are all different sizes, there isn't really a "pattern" for the tatting, just tatted rings and chains, joined into the holes in the filigree as needed.
The Celtic Hexad pendant shown is another original design. The thread I used is Lizbeth "Herbal Garden", a color combo that immediately became one of my favorites since it looks so "woodsy". I paired it with Leaf Green Dk #676 in the pendant.
The challenge of tatting the Fantasy Flower is that it doesn't lay flat, so it's a bit fiddly while in-progress. I chose to sew it onto a snap clip using the thread tails. A snap clip because it stays put in fine hair, which is the kind of hair that I have. At some point I may just keep them for myself :-)

What a lovely talent you have. The colors you use are gorgeous and the results are wonderful! You inspire me to give the steampunk a try for my teenage daughter who loves it!

Wow! That is so cool! Where is the fair taking place? I play around with wire and beads and came across some if those type of findings you used. I actually tried to tat around a square shaped copper piece and it was neat. I love all the found objects like clock parts and use them in my jewelry too, so I just expanded and used them in tatting too. You are so creative and talented, you never stop wowing me!

Thanks very much for the encouragement! I get so inspired by seeing the work of all you great tatters and crafters, although I often don't have time to comment. Directions to the Concinnity convention are at http://concinnitycon.weebly.com/directions--parking.html

I love seeing what you do with those filigree findings! I hope you have a wonderful, successful day! Wish I could be there, but I'll be headed southeast for Lace Days.

I love the steampunk aesthetic and I find your filigree pieces at the top of this post particularly lovely, so I think they should do quite well!

Nice looking pendants and earrings. The colors on the celtic pendant look a little iridescent in the picture. Perfect for sci-fi.

I'm not too sure what steampunk means, but I love your tatting!
