This is what I've come up with so far; I'm trying for an original, intermediate level project that would impress the selection committee for the Bead&Button Show. Thoughts?
It would be worn as a necklace, with the neck cord attaching to the uppermost small ring on either side. Skills taught would include bead picots, core beads, bead inside a ring, curled rings, folded rings, floating rings, reversing chains.
The sample in the photo is only my prototype, in which I did a lot of un-tatting and re-tatting, testing different ideas. I'll tat a new version to send in to the committee. I'm not sure about the colors, so I'll try some different colors, and the design might morph into something totally different! But, at least it's a start. I just received an email from Bead&Button stating the deadline for submissions as August 7th! So, I need to keep at it! Also, I need to come up with a new beginner project or two for the basics class.
Scheduled dye batch for later this week will be "Celery".

I love the colours, I prefer the bottom half of the design, which I would use all the way around.

Love it, beautiful, I love your tatting. I like the upper side too, those little rings are perfect to attach a necklace, why not with 2 other curled rings?
Well I'm impressed! Really beautiful piece
It is a lovely intermediate project. The colors are great.
Beautiful piec, and gorgeous color! I like the top part as well (I'm a fiend for symmetry though ;o)
Awesome and stunning!!! And the colors are fabulous!!! :)
It's gorgeous! I would love to see one in cobalt blue and black with silver beads... if that's not asking too much! ;-)
It looks like a fun piece to tat - not too hard but challenging. I'm looking forward to seeing what it becomes and in what color.
LOVE the pattern ! The colours are equally gorgeous. Really adore the peacock blue-green colour of outer round :-)
My humble view is ....
1. Only add one more of the 4 arched beaded picots that are on the 2 top sides, at the bottom centre arching the large ring with central gold bead.... to balance it all out.
2. The thread colours for Curled rings & the outermost round gel very well, as well as highlight the elements. However the lovely sky/turquoise blue in center, behind the curled rings, is too subdued. May be some other colour such as black ?
I love it! And I love the colors! I wish I could take your class!!
Sumptuous is the word that comes to mind. I love the textured look and the colours. Good luck!
I love this pendent and I think the weight too, tatted jewelry sometimes seems to be light and bends around too much on pendent pieces, this is a good design and looks like it wont change when wearing it I like it and of course playing with colors is fun and you have a good eye for that.
I love the celery color and I am glad you are making this I feel companies need improvement on there green! But then that is good for you :)
I love absolutely everything about this piece - and I am definitely not easily impressed. Nice one, Marilee.

Lovely design and I love the colours :).
Love your design. It will be a breathtaking statement piece when worn.
Wonderful piece! You 're on your way to meeting their deadline and also impressing them! I do love the colors. Very regal!
Thank you all so very much for the encouragement and suggestions! I am working on a re-do using some of the ideas offered and will post a photo when it's done.
