I think I've got it!
Just needed to "rotate" my thinking!
So I turned the bead the other way in the mock ring so the threads would be coming out of the top, not the sides - that
way I could end off at the top!The additional side chains even add some stability, I think.
So now the whole thing can be done with one shuttle, and no tricky split chain.Yep, this one is going in the book!

Me too (book)! I like this version of the pattern even better than the last.
It just keeps getting better and no split chain to boot. Sounds like a winner to me.
Before I published my first book I had to drastically change many of the patterns to make them as simple to tat as possible.
So I guess I am trying to say that there are "many ways to skin a cat" so to speak.
These are lovely and I would like a book too!
